How Ration content is made
Where the numbers come from
Nutrition values on Ration come from USDA FoodData Central laboratory measurements. Rankings are computed directly from those values, never hand-picked. When a food has not been measured for a nutrient, we show a dash rather than an estimate.
Compound levels, such as oxalate, phytate, and heavy-metal tiers, are compiled from published research. Every compound value carries a confidence grade and the studies it came from.
How articles are written
Articles cite peer-reviewed literature, linked inline and listed in a numbered Sources section. Claims without a citation are limited to what our own database measures. Bylines name the author on every article; a medical-review byline appears only when a credentialed reviewer has actually reviewed the piece.
Affiliate links and ads
Some articles include products we think are useful. If you buy through those links, we may earn a small commission. Affiliate links never change a ranking: rankings are computed from measured data, and pages with affiliate links carry a disclosure at the top. Advertising is separated from content and labeled.
Corrections
Every article shows its last-updated date. If you find an error, email the editorial team and we will review it against the source data.
